Mill Chase Academy

Academy Trust

Proud to be part of the University of Chichester Academy Trust

Mill Chase Academy is a proud member of the University of Chichester Academy Trust.  As an academy, MCA is a state-funded school with a degree of independence from local authority control.  We remain guided by the national education framework but have greater freedom to make choices, for example, on setting our own budget priorities and a curriculum that meets local needs.

Our links to the University of Chichester

The University of Chichester Academy Trust is a Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) and aims to develop a family of 30-40 academies based on hubs in the region.  Joining a MAT provides Mill Chase Academy with exciting opportunities to share expertise and resources with other academies as well as to access support from central Trust professional services staff.

Mill Chase Academy also benefits greatly from a continuing programme of school improvement supported by the Trust and expert colleagues at the University of Chichester.  The University‚Äôs Institute of Education has a distinguished history of teacher training that goes back over 150 years and is noted for its professional learning programmes for teachers and high quality education research.

Academy Governance

The University of Chichester Academy Trust is a single organisation with a Board of Directors: its members are company directors and charity trustees and the Trust makes no profit.

The Board delegates day-to-day running of each academy to the Local Governing Body (LGB) or Interim Local Governing Body (ILGB) which then reports regularly back to the Board.  The level of delegation may be different for each academy.  Enquiries about Mill Chase Academy governance should be made in the first instance to the Chair of the ILGB, Mr Michael Grant.
